Asia Matters during Honors Week

Awards presentation and lecture by Matthew Wolfgram (Anthropology) at 3 in Ferguson 300.

The lecture “Language and the Aesthetics of Ayurveda Drugs” will discuss the modernization of Ayurveda drugs in South Asia from the perspective of the role of the language practices used by doctors and scientists to produce pharmaceutical commodities. Examples of this process will include the colonial practice of pharmacy in British India, and the practice of Ayurveda, biotechnology, and New Age health tourism in contemporary Kerala, South India.
