The Monkey King and the god Rama have both played significant roles in the storytelling traditions of different regions of Asia. REL 322, Tales from Asia, is a seminar that considers both Journey to the West and the Ramayana and the various ways that people have told these stories, both historically and in contemporary media, such as comic books, anime, and live action media. Successful completion of the course also satisfies a Writing course requirement for the Core Curriculum.
